Charles Yang Sheng LIU

Prior to co-founding HAO Capital in 2006, Mr. Liu was a Senior Advisor to GE Capital, IBM and CITIC. He also participated in projects involving China Mobile, Standard Chartered Bank, ICBC, Huarong Asset Management Co. and Minsheng Bank. Between 1993 and 1999, Mr. Liu was Managing Director for China of Lazard Asia Limited. From 1975 to 1990, Mr. Liu served with the United Nations system of organizations.
Mr. Liu graduated from Princeton University in 1972 with a B.A. in economics and attended the Juris Doctor program of New York University School of Law from 1972 to 1975.
Mr. Lu was a Partner of HAO Capital between 2007 and 2010.
Mr. Lu is currently Senior Managing Director of Sapinda Asia Pacific Limited, a global investment group. From 2001 to 2007 he was Managing Director of Laureate Education, Inc., the largest operator of for-profit private universities in the world. Between 1995 and 2000, he was Managing Director of First Eastern Investment Group, a Hong Kong-based private equity group. Mr. Lu started his career at the Boston Consulting Group in Boston and Morgan Stanley in New York and also worked with Morningside Asia Ltd. and Canadian Overseas Development Co.
Mr. Lu holds a B.S. degree from the Wharton School, an M.A. degree from Oxford University and an MBA from Harvard Business School.
Richard has over 25 years of investing experience in both public and private markets.
He began his career in 1994 at Goldman Sachs, where he worked for eight years in Equity Sales, as an Executive Director with a focus on the technology sector. In 2002, Richard joined the Goldman Sachs Proprietary trading desk, charged with investing the firm's capital in technology companies. He moved to GLG Partners in 2003, to become a Hedge Fund Portfolio Manager, overseeing a $500m Equity Long/Short Fund. In 2010 Richard left GLG to set up his own consulting firm, Tempus Capital, which focused on Technically driven strategies. He subsequently worked with a number of start-up hedge funds, assisting with advisory and investment strategies centred on Equities. In 2015, Richard founded GRO Advisors, which assists leading edge technology companies in both strategy and capital raising decisions.
Richard holds a 1st Class Joint Honours Degree in Accounting and Business Studies from Edinburgh University. He spent a scholarship year at Wharton Business School in the USA. He later became qualified as a Certified Financial Technician (CFTe) and achieved an MSTA (Member of the Society of Technical Analysts) qualification in the UK.
